How Does A Fractionated Laser Work?

Fractionated laser treatment is designed to target aging and damaged skin by creating microscopic “wounds” within the targeted areas well beneath the skin’s outermost layer.* In this way, the healing of the “wounds” triggers the body’s own natural production of new collagen and skin cells.* And because normal skin is present in between the micro-columns, healing and skin recovery is expedited as compared to non-fractionated skin resurfacing.* This treatment combines the impact of ablative lasers with the gentleness of non-ablative lasers.

How many treatments are required?

An initial series of four treatments are recommended to achieve the desired results in most patients.* Some patients will require additional treatments to help achieve more dramatic results.* Every patient is assessed for individual treatment recommendation.

Are there any side effects?

Treatments are safe and effective and have minimal down time.* Redness which resembles a sunburn may be expected for two to four days after each procedure.* Long-term side effects are not common and are discussed with every patient based on their individual skin condition.*

Does the treatment hurt?

A warm sensation which lasts several minutes may be experienced.* A topical numbing cream is applied before the treatment which helps ease any discomfort.* Some patients may choose to receive additional pain medications depending on the type of treatments and other considerations.

Pre and Post Treatment Instructions
